Welcome to the Spring 2017 semester!

Please see below for helpful information to get you started in Moodle whether you are an Online/Hybrid student or taking a traditional course.


RETURNING STUDENTS - all students that have taken a class at ECC last semester that experience an issue logging into Moodle (error message - invalid login) - please attempt to log into MyECC (access via - see link in black lettering in the upper left hand corner of the home page).  The credentials to log into MyECC are the same that you use to log into Moodle.  If you can not log into MyECC, then you will need to contact Enrollment Services to possibly reset your account pin.  Call Enrollment at (973) 877-3111.  If you can log into MyECC then email with your complete name, school email address and the complete course ID for the class that you are taking for which you need access to Moodle.

NEW TO ECC/MOODLE - are you taking your first class at ECC?  Your MyECC credentials are the same that you will use for accessing Moodle.  If when logging into Moodle, you default to your profile, you will need to enter into your profile your ESSEX.EDU email address.  Then you will need to access that email and look for an email from Moodle asking you to click on the link in the email to verify your Moodle Profile changes.  If you are unable to access Moodle and your MyECC site, please contact Enrollment Services at (973) 877-3111.

NOTE:  If you are a student that has not taken a class at ECC since 2014, you are considered 'NEW' to Moodle and will need to wait until courses appear to access Moodle.  This usually takes uo to 24 hours.  

PIN Reset:  If a user receives an error requiring a PIN reset, Reset the PIN in Web Services via this link - then click FORGOT PIN and follow the instructions to answer your security questions and gain access to reset.​  Go into the link above - enter your Essex user ID and then click forgot pin - answer your security question and it will reset youpin.  Moodle will reset within the hour.​

Ensuring that your login access works will assist you in 'readiness' to success, once the course becomes available.   To ensure 'readiness', new students: make sure that the course is listed in your semester schedule in the MyECC Web Services site, existing students: make sure that you can log into Moodle.  If you are an online or hybrid student, you must pass the Student orientation before viewing class materials.
